Creating a Future That Works: Trends and Best practices in Employee Engagement
October 28, 2020 12:30 PM – 1:20 p.m.
Session Type: Special Interests
As we start the third decade of the 21st century, the pace of change only seems to be increasing as technology innovators continue to push the envelope. Within this context of technological advancement, we also have rapidly changing demographics and the participation of at least five distinct generations in the workforce for the first time in history.
Our world also continues to be more connected than ever and we are faced with daunting systemic challenges from climate change to global pandemics like the coronavirus and the disease it causes, COVID-19. This unparalleled period of disruption means we all must adopt an agile mindset and new practices that accept and embrace perpetual change. As many organizations examine their practices to develop new systems and policies to address these threats and take advantage of new opportunities, we can expect to see emerging trends in what people expect from their institutions and long-term changes to how employees work.
Learn more about these new attitudes and the most important trends shaping the workplace, and discover insights into how to engage employees in this new era through findings from APCO’s Future of Work study. To assess the trends shaping the future of work, APCO Insight, the opinion research team at APCO, surveyed 2,000 U.S. workers across multiple industries in the fourth quarter of 2019.
Expanding upon this original research, APCO also is incorporating new findings from new ongoing research into the evolving coronavirus global pandemic crisis to examine opinions, expectations and preferred sources of information of employees in the U.S. APCO will share insights from this research and strategies for how companies can incorporate these findings into their internal communication and employee engagement strategies.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
• Describe new research that uncovers insights into American employee perceptions and expectations of the workplace.
• Discern what employees are looking for from their employers and what organizations can do to recruit and retain top talent.
• Apply new insights into new strategies to maximize internal communications, improve employee engagement and deliver business results."
