10 Strategies to Prepare Students for an AI-Powered Workplace

During a faculty retreat before the fall semester, a colleague expressed his concerns about the rise of artificial intelligence and warned that we, faculty from the nation’s top universities, are falling behind in addressing its serious ethical, societal and educational challenges. 

His comments sparked a lively discussion about how educators should adapt and respond to AI responsibly. We debated its uncertainties and its effects on students, research, career opportunities and society overall. I was struck by how globally recognized scholars, industry professionals and educators are grappling with this disruption.

The concerns are understandable, especially in journalism and public relations programs where critical thinking and writing skills are fundamental, and where Generation Z and Generation Alpha are already saturated with social media, misinformation and disinformation.
