An Evening With PRSA CEO Matthew Marcial at Hampton University
PRSA Hampton Roads Chapter, in partnership with Hampton University’s Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications, welcomed PRSA CEO Matthew Marcial, CAE, on Sept. 25.
The program drew students from Hampton University, Norfolk State University and Old Dominion University, along with PR professionals from across the region, for an evening of conversation on the future of communications.
Marcial, who joined PRSA as CEO earlier this year, delivered remarks on the state of the PR industry, highlighting current challenges around membership engagement, innovation and professional development, while also sharing areas of momentum such as increased interest in artificial intelligence, ethics and digital transformation.
Speaking directly to students, Marcial emphasized the role of the next generation in shaping the profession. “Communicators today sit at the intersection of technology, trust and truth,” he said. “Ethical leadership is no longer optional; it’s essential.”
He encouraged students to pursue opportunities for Accreditation, embrace lifelong learning, and see themselves as vital contributors to an industry navigating disruption and misinformation.
