Questions That Build Better AI Policies
By Dan Farkas
November-December 2025
I’ve keynoted conferences across the country and never heard anything like this: “I can’t believe how terrible that presentation was. It was awful.”
The person who said this didn’t know I was two spots ahead of them in the mixer cocktail line. There were two choices: Be quiet and stew, or turn around and say, “I’m sorry you thought my presentation was so terrible. What questions can I answer that would help?”
The reaction was priceless. After the color came back to their face, we discussed AI ethics, environmental sustainability and training resources for 30 minutes. Maybe I wasn’t so awful after all.
The experience was a massive reminder: The best AI implementation is about people, not technology. Anyone building better AI policies should ask these questions. Notice they have nothing to do with technology.
