The Year Ahead for Editorial
By John Elsasser
January 2026
The start of 2026 brings fresh opportunities to explore the trends, technologies and leadership perspectives shaping the PR and communications profession.
Each January, Strategies & Tactics begins a new editorial journey — and this year is no exception. Our 2026 editorial calendar provides a road map for the conversations we’ll be elevating, but the real direction comes from you: the practitioners, educators, students and counselors who define PR’s present and shape its future.
Communications continues to evolve at an extraordinary pace. This year, we expect to see even more crossover between human creativity and AI-powered capabilities; increased expectations for communicators to provide strategic clarity amid disruption; and a renewed focus on leadership, trust and ethical decision-making.
As the role of the communicator grows, so does the need for thoughtful perspectives and practical insights — the kind that help you perform your job more confidently and effectively.
We welcome articles across a wide range of topics, including:
- Emerging technologies reshaping the PR and communications landscape
- Timely analysis of news that affects communicators and organizations
- Meaningful reflections on professional growth, leadership and career development
If you have an idea that can advance the profession or spark a new conversation, then we’d love to hear it. Please send your pitches to john.elsasser@prsa.org and amy.jacques@prsa.org. Please keep in mind that we work about two months in advance of the publication date.
Thank you for trusting us as a platform to share your expertise. The strength of S&T has always been rooted in the generosity of practitioners who are willing to educate and inspire their colleagues.

A Fully Digital S&T Begins Now
As I wrote in my column in the last issue, beginning this month, Strategies & Tactics is now fully digital.
While the format has changed, our commitment to delivering high-quality, actionable insights remains steadfast. In addition to the web edition and e-newsletter with issue links, we will continue to offer a digital flipbook replicating the design of the print magazine, along with downloadable PDFs for members who prefer offline reading or archiving.
Our move to digital supports PRSA’s sustainability goals and reinforces our responsibility to operate in a fiscally sound way. We’re excited about the possibilities ahead, and grateful to you for evolving with us.
On a personal note, this issue also marks the start of my 32nd year at PRSA. It remains a privilege to help elevate the voices, insights and stories that move our profession forward. I’m grateful to continue that work with you.
