Emmitt Smith

Emmitt Smith is a professional football icon and one of the greatest to ever play the game. In his 15 seasons as a running back in the National Football League, Smith amassed many records that still stand today, including most career rushing yards and most career rushing touchdowns.

After his playing days, Smith served as a football analyst and then took his television career a step further when he won the third season of ABC’s "Dancing with the Stars," during which he was dubbed "the king of effortless cool." He also added author to his list of accomplishments, publishing "Game On," which outlines the principles that helped him succeed both on and off the field.

Marlee Matlin headshotMarlee Matlin

Matlin’s latest film, "CODA," recently earned three Academy Awards, including the Oscar for Best Picture. It also garnered the Screen Actors Guild Award for "Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture."

In 1987, Matlin became the youngest recipient of a Best Actress Oscar for her film debut in "Children of a Lesser God."

PRSA's ICON 2022 Conference event is scheduled to be held at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Tx and will be subject to the COVID-19 protocols, guidelines, laws and regulations of the State of Texas and the City of Grapevine. As the situation evolves, these orders are subject to change and can be found here and here. We ask that all attendees frequently monitor them.

The best way to have a successful gathering in these times is to commit to keeping each other safe!  Please monitor your health and use all precautions to protect everyone in our community. We encourage attendees to get vaccinated if they can and wear masks when in large crowds. If you test positive for COVID-19, are feeling symptomatic, are required to quarantine, or have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19 or been exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms in the lead up to the event and need to stay home, we will be flexible on the cancellation policy for these reasons.

Sabrina Browne is an award-winning PR executive, DEI champion, and women’s advocate residing in the Greater New York City Area. Currently, she is a Vice President, Corporate Affairs at BCW, the world’s third-largest integrated communications firm. In her role, Sabrina advises clients across the retail, CPG, financial, and spirits sectors.

Full Bio

Browne connects the firm’s Fortune 500 clients to target audiences through integrated communication strategies that build consumer trust, drive purchase consideration, and sustain corporate reputation in media. She also leads BCW’s African American Employee Resource Group in North America to elevate Black voices across the firm. Beyond BCW, she is the VP of Marketing at PRSA-NY and Co-Chair of PRSA's Black Voices Affinity Group.

To date, Browne has received several awards and recognitions including Business Insider's 20 Rising Stars in PR, Crain’s Notable in Marketing and PR Award, and Top 100 Women Leaders of New Jersey.

Robert Hastings is Executive Vice President, Chief Marketing & Communications Officer, for Bell Textron Inc. where he leads the company’s internal and external communications, marketing, branding, corporate giving, and community affairs.

Full Bio

Hastings joined Bell from Northrop Grumman where he served as vice president of communications for the Information Systems Sector.  Previously, he was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs where he led a worldwide public affairs community of some 4,000 military and civilian personnel. Before joining the Defense Department, he served as chief of staff and vice president of communications for BAE Systems, Inc.  

Hastings is a former member of the PRSA Board of Directors and Board of Ethics and Professional Standards (BEPS). He also served on the National Capitol Chapter Board of Directors and was Co-Chair of the 2010 International Conference. Hastings is a recipient of the PRSA Lloyd B. Dennis Distinguished Leadership Award.

Juan-Carlos Molleda, Ph.D. is the Edwin L. Artzt Dean and Professor of the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication since 2016. He has been an active scholar for more than 20 years, resulting in a noteworthy volume of publications and speaking engagement worldwide.

Juan-Carlos is the co-director of the Latin American Communication Monitor, the largest study of strategic communication in the region since 2014. He is actively engaged with the professional community, accumulating more than 10 years of public relations and communication management experience in the financial, insurance, pharmaceutical, and consultancy sectors.

Juan-Carlos is member of PRSA Educational Affairs Committee, the Institute for Public Relations’ Board of Trustees, The LAGRANT Foundation’s Board of Directors, and the Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations’ Board of Advisors. In Oregon, Juan-Carlos is member of the HIV Alliance’s Board of Directors and the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art’s Leadership Council.

Do PRSA members receive a registration discount?
Yes. Active PRSA members receive a $300 discount on their registration, which is reflected in the member rate.

Are there any special discounts available for non-PRSA members?
Fully paid non-PRSA members who register for ICON are eligible to receive a complimentary one-year PRSA membership.

What is included in the cost of a registration?
Includes all ICON programming, ICON Refreshment Breaks, Sunday and Monday Night Receptions and Monday/Tuesday Lunches. (Note: pre-conference workshops will be available for an additional fee.)

How can I attend a pre-conference Workshops?
You will be able to can register for them online or by using the PDF registration form. All pre-conference workshop information, including registration details, are posted here.

Who are the ICON keynote speakers?

Are hotel rooms available for ICON attendees?
Yes. PRSA has reserved rooms at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center. Click on the booking link or call (877) 491-5138 and ask for the Group Name “Public Relations Society of America.” Rooms are guaranteed on a first-come, first-served basis through Oct. 12, 2022.

How can I find out who else is attending?
Registered attendees may download the attendee roster. (Note: slow-loading PDF file.)

Can I cancel my registration?
Yes. A refund of your 2022 ICON registration fee, less an administrative fee of $400 ($85 for PRSSA students and advisers), will be made if written notice of cancellation is postmarked (or emailed) no later than Oct. 12, 2022. Registrants whose cancellation requests are postmarked (or emailed) after Oct. 12, 2022, will NOT be entitled to a refund. Cancellation of registration for this event must be made in writing and mailed to PRSA 2022 International Conference, 411 Lafayette Street, Suite 201, New York, NY 10003, Attn: PRSA 2022 International Conference Registration, or by email to cledesma@pcm411.com.

If I have registered and can not attend, can I send a substitute in my place?
Yes. Substitute attendees will be permitted (with appropriate documentation) until Oct. 12, 2022 and must be made in writing and mailed to PRSA 2022 International Conference, 411 Lafayette Street, Suite 201, New York, NY 10003, Attn: PRSA 2022 International Conference Registration, or by email to cledesma@pcm411.com.

Will there be a virtual option for those who do not want to attend in person?
Yes. The virtual option includes access to ICON 2022 keynote presentations and select breakout sessions, along with virtual networking opportunities through the conference app through 2022. You can select the virtual option on the registration page when signing up
