Vice President of Brand Engagement
Steven Trettel
Steven Trettel, the 2026-2027 PRSSA Vice President of Brand Engagement, is a senior at Waynesburg University double majoring in public relations and journalism.
Steve hit the ground running at Waynesburg, immediately joining PRSSA and signing up for the Yellow Jacket Newspaper staff his freshman year. His sophomore year, he was elected as his chapter’s Vice President and Student-run Firm Director. In that year, he rebuilt Red Brick Communications into a functioning co-curricular program, which he led to National Affiliation with PRSSA. His junior year, he served as his Chapter’s Executive Administrator, National Liaison, and Firm Account Manager while serving as a member of the Publications Subcommittee under the Vice President of Brand Engagement.
Now, as Vice President of Brand Engagement, Steve is excited to explore his love of storytelling by helping PRSSA members share their experiences, insights and stories. He looks forward to connecting, engaging and encouraging members by sharing the stories of PRSSA’s thousands of talented young professionals through the Progressions blog and Connections Newsletter, while pushing the organization forward in thought leadership through media relations strategies.
Professionally, Steve has developed his skillset through his internships and work with the Together with Veterans nonprofit, Flying Scooter Productions, XSquared Media, Krakoff Communications, Waynesburg University’s Office of Institutional Advancement and the Kamin Science Center. At each of these places he has managed key media relations, brand development, production, social media and strategic communications initiatives. In 2026, he was awarded the Bob O’Gara Scholarship for his meaningful contributions to the PR field in the Pittsburgh, PA region.
Outside of PRSSA, Steve has been an active member of Waynesburg’s chapter of Lambda Pi Eta Communications Honor Society, student senate, campus ministry leadership, eHIVE entrepreneurial program, and resident assistant program, where he has continually served his community.
In his free time, Steve can be found cooking, hiking, learning the drums, or reading and writing as much as he possibly can.
